Hello, I'm Solar.
For my second mini album [COLOURS], I've tried to express six different genres of music in my own unique way.
The goal of this album is not only to showcase my diverse colors but also to encourage and respect the diversity of everyone, as if each person has their own unique color, personality, taste, and values.
I hope my message reaches many through this album.
I've returned with a solo album after two years, and I'll repay you with good songs for the long wait. :)

MAMAMOO's Solar has returned with her second mini-album after two years. This album, [COLOURS], encapsulates her ambition to showcase her diverse charm through the keyword ‘colour,’ expressed in six tracks spanning various genres.
Moreover, the album title embodies the idea of encouraging the many ‘Ours’ living in contemporary times to discover their unique traits, charms, identities, and values, aiming to create a harmonious and colorful world through mutual respect for each other's colors.
Through this album, Solar deeply conveyed the respect and reflection on ‘Diversity,’ portraying the matured artist’s perspectives and values as she observes and feels the world around her.
The title track 'But I' is a fusion of R&B and Rock, resiliently retaliating and shaking off the hurt inflicted by others. In addition to 'But I,' the album features 'Colors', 'Empty', 'Honey Honey', 'Easy Peasy', 'Blues'—each song in a different genre, further showcasing Solar's colorful musical spectrum.

‘Colors’ is a house genre track that, like a spectrum of diverse colors, illustrates the variety of people in the world. We all have different personalities and appearances. Even if we receive attention for being different from the majority, I believe it’s just a difference, not being wrong. Everyone deserves respect, and we all deserve to be loved, no matter what we look like. This song aims to instill confidence in those who feel otherwise.
It’s also the first song that challenged me to try voguing, a dance genre new to me.
Initially, I was scared of trying something new, but thinking about the lyrics of the song helped me quickly overcome those fears. I hope we all can boldly face new challenges without fear.

The title track ‘But I’ blends R&B with rock.
It's about experiencing a momentary fall, like petals dropping, but blooming anew and sweetly revenging those who caused pain.
There are many good people around me who support me, and we are strong enough to overcome beautifully.
I hope we won’t get worn out because of those who hurt us.
This is the first time I perform a title track with a band without choreography. I’ve always wanted to try rock and finally getting to do it. It's feels like a fresh stimulus to me.

'Empty' is a song I wrote during moments of feeling sentimental and lonely. The lyrics openly accept these feelings of loneliness. It's a pop ballad that aligns well with the lyrics, and I had previously shared it unreleased with fans a few years ago. Now, it's finally included in this album.
Singing 'Empty' often brings me a lot of comfort, and I hope it offers comfort and empathy to the fans listening to it as well.

속담 중에 There's a proverb "piece of a cake," and I've playfully used this proverb ironically in the introduction to suggest that, although today was tough, it seemed like nothing big, as if it was handled easily.라는 말이 있잖아요? 도입부에 해당 속담을 반어법으로 사용해서 오늘 하루도 너무 힘들었지만 마치 별거 아니네 하면서 쉽게 해낸 것처럼 재밌게 풀어봤어요.
I wanted to offer simple, yet heartfelt consolation to everyone who struggles day after day, not with grandeur but with quiet empathy.

It might not be a style that's commonly performed these days, but both the lyrics and music feel like they truly represent "Solar" and "Kim Yong Sun"
This track might be the most authentic and charismatic song on the album.
